iPhone 5 to be released at the same price as that of iPhone 4S

Another rumor is in the air now about the release of iPhone 5. One of the most anticipated releases in the smart phone industry has received amazing news from 9to5Mac. According to reports, info has been received that a total of six models of Apple’s new iPhone 5 will be released this September. And the amazing part is that Apple is going to release these models code named “N42” in both black and white at the same prices as the iPhone 4S.

This news is quite astonishing because of the fact that iPhone 5 is brand new. iPhone 4S was released in October last year and is lacking many features that is installed in the new iPhone. iPhone 5 will be having a newly designed SIM card which is regarded as a nano SIM smaller in size than any other SIM cards used presently in mobile devices. Also, iPhone 5 will be equipped with the new iOS 6 which has more than 200 new features than the previous version. The new phone is also provided with a longer lasting battery which is even lighter in weight than iPhone 4S and the  display is larger..

To summarize, iPhone 5 is equipped with all the new and advanced features that have never been used in any smart phone released till date. Obviously, it will outsmarts its predecessor, the iPhone 4S in every feature and yet Apple has decided to release iPhone 5 at the prices $199, $299, $399 which is the same as that carried by iPhone 4S.

iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S: Where they stand in terms of their batteries?

Only a few days are left before the most anticipated launch of Apple’s iPhone 5. It is really difficult to wait to see what we are getting this time from iPhone, one of the most selling smart phones in the world. The most important thing that reflects the portability of smart phones these days is the battery. Apple’s iPhone outsmarts other brands in this field with a great battery backup but what iPhone 5 has to offer us in comparison to the previous version iPhone 4S. Here is a quick comparison for you.

In terms of capacity, iPhone 5 has an advantage with a 3.8V/5.45Whr battery in comparison to the 3.7V/5.3Whr battery of iPhone 4S. So, practically iPhone 5’s battery will last more than its predecessor.

In terms of size of the battery, the battery of iPhone 5 is taller by less than half an inch than iPhone 4S. but, the thickness of both of them is the same. Though, the thickness appears to be same, it is worth noting that the battery of iPhone 5 seems 1-2 millimetres thinner.

Also, the position of the battery in iPhone 5 is different from that in iPhone 4S and the charging points are also at different positions. This is why the connecter is also different than that of iPhone 4S.

Now, comes one of the most important aspect of the battery, its weight. Its battery weighs only 0.80 oz compared to 0.96oz of iPhone 4S which indicates that iPhone 5 is going to be one of the lightest smart phones released till date.

According to an analyst, Galaxy S III clinches the USA crown from iPhone 4S

After referring to the “channel checks”, one analyst stated that iPhone 4S has been outsold in USA by Samsung’s latest smart phone Galaxy S III during August. This is the first time that the Apple’s leading product was not the best-selling smart phone in USA since the launch of iPhone 4S in October last year.

A writer from BusinessInsider passed on the note sent by the analyst Michael Walkey which stated that Apple is in trouble if Samsung is beating it in October too. At the same time, it is quite logical that the sales of iPhone 4S have fallen lately as many customers are saving their money for the newer version of iPhone.

Analyst also quoted that Apple will return strongly as number one in the united States with the launch of its latest iPhone as the websites indicated the strong interest of the consumers towards iPhone5. According to the channel checks of the analyst, iPhone even slipped further below at Verizon being placed after Motorola Razr max in the list.

Kantar Worldpanel, a research firm noted the similar situation in the market shares which indicated that smartphones having larger displays such as four inches or more are attracting more market shares. According to a poll conducted by a website, people demanded that the latest iPhones should have larger screen display of about four inches with better displays and thinner models. And at the same time, it shouldn’t be too wide so that it can’t be used only a thumb. Surprisingly, Galaxy S III fulfils all these criteria and has raised concerns for Apple to reinvent their smart phones to gain their market back.

Mnay believe that Samsung’s current reign in the market is transitory until the launch of Phone 5 by next week. What do u think? Will Apple be back in the game with iPhone 5 or Galaxy S III will keep dominating?

An iOS developer spots possible iPad Mini in his App Logs

The rumors of the new third generation iPad Mini launch have been in the air since past few months. Now, some facts are coming up supporting the existence of the possible device. Dock connectors, cases, rear shells and other accessories that appeared in the news lately.

One of the developers of Apple’s iOS Marco Arment has reported that he noticed the new iPad models and discovered some pieces of information in his app logs which indicate that these models might be the variations of the rumored new tablet. He thinks that iPad2.5 and iPad2.6 are most likely the GSM and Wi-Fi versions of the new mini tablet. He added that he has not yet founded the CDMA version iPad2.7. The revealed models suggest that the new device will have an A5 RAM of 512 MB. Also, this implies that iPad2 will be having a Gruber Display instead of the Retina Display present in iPhones. Gruber Display is a term for smaller display with the same resolution of 1024 x 768 present in current iPads.

He also sees this as a move to increase market share by providing hardwares of the last generation at lower prices in order to make an impact on a larger population. Arment also mentioned that this could be a fake. At the same time, he said that whenever he has found such type of indications in his logs, it has always turned out to be a real Apple product.

Walmart tests Self-Checkout System based on iPhone for its Retail Stores

Walmart has now become the second iPhone key retailer besides Apple as it began testing a self checkout system based on iPhones in its stores. Reuters reported that Walmart is testing the new system on its employees first.  This new system that will be provided to the customers will allow to scan and pay directly from the iPhone instead without going toa cashier. The phone itself will take care of the job actually done by a cashier.

Right now, it seems that this test will be limited to Arkansas stores rather than being  available in all the stores, as no formal announcement has been made by Walmart. Though, the company did agree that they will keep trying innovative methods to make shopping experience easier at their stores.

Last year, Apple launched a similar app for its users but it was limited to the purchase of some items in their retail stores. Shoppers can select a product from mac accessories and iOS section and then buy that product using their iPhones. This self checkout system is practiced out very smoothly without any objections created by employees when a customer is leaving the store.  Although, one report has been made of the failure of this EasyPay system provided by Apple.

Such cases might increase in the future when more and more retailers will be allowing this kind of service in their stores by allowing shoppers do the checkout on their devices. We are yet to find whether pros of this system will prevail over its cons. This is the main objective of Walmart behind testing this system.

AT&T defends restrictions of FaceTime even after harsh criticism

On Wednesday AT&T defended the policy which restricts the use of FaceTime app by Apple in a blog post. Although consumer advocates still find it unacceptable according to FCC’s rules.

Last week, it was confirmed by AT&T that with the  Apple’s iOS new update, FaceTime could now be used on cellular networks along with Wi-Fi networks. However, it sparked a controversy when AT&T stated that the app will be accessible to only those customers who are having its Family Sharing plans. Almost immediately, the company was criticized by consumer advocates as it violated FCC’s fundamental rule of keeping the internet accessible to all iPhone users.

In another arguing blog post, AT&T’s high official Bob Quinn mentioned the two requirements of the wireless operators enlisted in FCC and that the new policy did not violated either of these requirements. He also said that FaceTime’s policy would be fully transparent to every user which dealt with the allegations regarding transparency and blocking issues posed on by the advocates. He added that FCC’s rules don’t deal with preloaded apps’ availability to the customers.

This statement was denied by Derek Turner from Free Press making it clear that FCC’s rules don’t distinguish between preloaded and downloaded apps. He also said that AT&T was inventing words which are not present in the rules.

Free press argued to the claims of AT&T which requires its users to subscribe its share plans as FaceTime might be using more data. It made sense as only 1GB data is made available to the customers subscribed to its share plan while 3GB is available on its tiered plans.

While Public Knowledge’s  senior attorney acknowledged that the new apps pose a threat to the voice services of AT&T and that the internet rules provided by FCC instructs the mobile providers to deal with the new services impartially rather than engaging in inequitable behavior. Meanwhile, FCC’s representatives are yet to pore their thoughts upon this issue.
