ClockworkMod on Android Phones
One of the most important tools for flashing a custom ROM, or a stock ROM, which has not yet been officially released, the tool ClockworkMod recovery. In this guide we will explain to you how you install this tool on your Android smartphone. The guide can be used universally for every Android smartphone. Of course it is possible that some of ClockworkMod for Android Smartphones is not available, then you have a specific guide for flashing of the device to be used.
The CWM provides some functions more than just flashing a custom ROM. It offers the possibility to create a complete backup of the system to perform all the wipes, and to create a partition on the external SD card, then in what apps are stored. In addition, complete application packages will install packages or themes.
This guide covers only the flash of the CWM, the use will be explained subsequently in the instructions.
Installing the ClockworkMod Recovery on Android Phones
Prerequisite:
- Your phone must have a root access. Appropriate instructions can be found on our site or through Google (how to root “your device name” on “your installed version of Android”)
Once your phone is rooted, can be started with the manual. For most devices this guide will work without problems, of course, it assumes that your device is already equipped with Android. With smart phones like the HTC HD2 , there are other ways to install the CWM.
Step 1:
In the first step must you read the ROM on your device manager FREE install [ Link Market ]. Also you can install the Premium version of the ROM manager, it is no advertising, has access to much more ROMs and it supports the developers [ Link Market ].
Step 2:
Start the ROM Manager from the main menu and click on “Flash ClockworkMod recovery.”
Step 3:
Next, you will be prompted to select your phone model. It is important that you select the correct version of your smartphone. For example, the Galaxy has about six different versions.
Step 4: Next, your phone will download and then flash CWM.
Starting from ClockworkMod:
- After this step, the installation of the ClockworkMod is complete. In order to convert your device into the CWM there are several possibilities. The first option is the ROM Manager, you will need to restart the application and “ Reboot into Recovery “ menu. However, it is found on some equipment that does not work that way. Should this be the case with your device, you must follow the latter course and start the ClockworkMod manually.
- For the second option you have to turn off your smartphone. Once it is down, you must start your machine with a certain key combination. For most devices you have the volume down and power button and hold until you see the menu of ClockworkMods.
