Instant Search Google for several weeks already available for computers, is beginning to reach the mobile. Some iPhone users have the option and now available on Google.com, once activated, the results appear immediately without having to load a new page.
As often happens with Google, the deployment of this new option will be gradual. We have no option on our iPhone, even using the U.S. version of Google. Waiting to try the Instant Search from Google.com, one can hope that Apple will incorporate this feature in the search for Safari Mobile. Though it would be perfect in Spotlight …
Google has formalized this new feature on its official blog. The company confirms that Instant Search is reserved for the moment the United States. We also learn that it also works on Android and that this function uses AJAX extensively and HTML 5. Must Android 2.2 or more, or four iOS to access the service, and the phone must be in English. This is clearly not enough (we tried it on an iPhone iOS 4 with 4.2), Google will probably filter through the IP address. Other countries and languages will, anyway, supported soon.
Google offers a short instructional video that will enlighten all those who are unfamiliar with Instant Search Google:
