Various rumors and hardware leaks pointed out recently that the new iPhone 5 will have an NFC receiver. AnandTech considers this opportunity, however, very small: the design of the new iPhone would be very unlikely that Apple could integrate a functioning receiver. The iPhone was the top and bottom only two ‘glasses’ stripes wireless signals to pass through, which is not enough for the NFC receiver.
An NFC receiver would need a large coil, on a flat surface such as the battery or the protective shield back of the iPhone must be confirmed. The design of different hardware pictures seems not made: the back has two different colored stripes which probably wireless signals go through it, but the middle of the back still consists of a metal. This would be the performance of an NFC receiver considerably in the way.
There is a chance that Apple has succeeded to the NFC receiver at the top or bottom to place, but AnandTech eight little chance that Apple will actually do. This would mean that you have the top or bottom of the iPhone from another smartphone with NFC must hold, while the other just a receiver in the middle. According to Anandtech would a company like Apple to be inconvenient.
