Now that Microsoft has entered the tablet PC market with the introduction of the Microsoft Surface Tablet, people have been talking about it. Questions were raised right away whether or not this will be able to kill and bring down the iPad. Microsoft and Apple have long been going head to head with its products particularly its operating system. Of course, both companies would claim that theirs is better than the other. If you ask their loyal followers, they will say the same thing. It really remains to be seen in terms of the Surface being the product that will make people sell iPad 2 or even bring the iPad down.
Apple’s iPad has a clear advantage over the Surface Tablet because the market is being able to enjoy the features announced by Apple when it made its keynote speech. People have been known to sell iPad 2 even if it was still quite new when Apple announced the improvements it made for the New iPad. People were happy with the upgrades which is why you see the iPad 3 enjoying brisk sales even surpassing the original iPad and iPad 2 when it was launched. Even those who were not yet sure if it was worth the purchase finally made up their minds and purchased their own New iPad.
As for Microsoft, they did announce the features of their newest product via a media event held at the Milk Studios in Los Angeles. It was an activity that everyone was excited about, as there were rumors of a Microsoft tablet being announced at the said event. The rumors were indeed confirmed as Microsoft launched the Surface Tablet and showcased a working model to the crowd. The two models of the tablet were announced along with the specs and other accessories it had. Of course, it showcased the soon to be released Windows 8 as it will be the operating system of one of the models of the Surface Tablet. They also announced the debut of the Windows RT, which is the operating system they developed based on the system of Windows 8.
The difference between the two operating systems is that Windows RT was developed solely for the use of mobile technologies, meaning it will be consuming less power when used compared to the full version. This is the perfect companion for mobile gadgets who are dependent on battery power. If consumption is low then the battery can last longer and more things can be done.
Microsoft and Apple followers are already starting to compare the two tablet PCs to see which is better. Of course, each would claim its own as the better one. However, it all remains to be seen, until the Microsoft Surface Tablet is available for purchase. People have yet to try out the Surface if it indeed lives up to the claims made by Microsoft during its press launch. Apple, on the other hand, can enjoy the status quo as it still remains on top of the list and is still the darling of the market with more people looking for those who sell iPad online.
